The analysis of an environment for risks. Each risk is evaluated according to the losses it may cause, probability of occurrence, the cost of countermeasures to mitigate the risk, and the likely loss if those countermeasures were implemented.
The output from a risk analysis is typically a prioritized list of risks together with a cost/benefit analysis for possible countermeasures.
