The maximum time an activity or resource can be unavailable before irreperable harm is caused to the organization.
As part of a Business Impact Analysis, a maximum tolerable period of disruption should be estimated for each key activity within the organization. This applies to both customer-facing and internal activities.
Note that the Recovery Time Objective specifies the time by which an organization intends to recover an activity or resource: the Maximum Tolerable Period of Disruption is the upper bound on this time.
This term may be abbreviated as MTPoD or MTPD.
