  • Association of Local Authority Risk Managers (ALARM)
    UK public sector risk managment society, with members for central and local government, emergency services, and health and education sectors. Largest public sector risk management organization outside of USA.
  • Business Continuity Institute
    Professional certification and training for business continuity practitioners. Members use the designatory letters FBCI (Fellow), MBCI (Member), an SBCI (Specialist).
  • DRI International
    Offers certification and training in contingency planning, risk management. Certifications include MBCP (Master Business Continuity Professional), CBCP (Certified) and ABCP (Associate).
  • Institute of Risk Management
    Professional Society for those involved in risk management. Currently mainly UK based.
  • Society for Risk Analysis
    Professional Society for anyone interested in Risk Analysis. Publishes the scholarly journal Risk Analysis.
  • Society for Risk Analysis (European Section)
    European section of the Society for Risk Analysis. Publishes the Journal of Risk Analysis in conjunction with the Japanese section of the society.

  • Emergency Preparedness Canada
    Canadian government agency with mission to protect critical infrastructure and ensure emergency preparedness. Pamphlets, posters, and press releases.
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
    US federal disaster preparedness agency, now part of the US Department of Homeland Security. Publishes comprehensive guides for businesses. Also has a spokescrab (Herman) and stuff for kids!
  • UK Resilience
    This Civil Contingencies Secretariat (CCS) is a new (2004) body charged with improving the resilience of the United Kingdom to disasters — whether man-made or acts of nature. Lots of guides and information for government, businesses, and the end user.
